Great reporting, Josh. These Colorado outlets should be ashamed of themselves. They are failing their civic roles and should close up shop if they can’t do their jobs properly. What do you think they are afraid of? Losing access?
It's complicated, I think, and plan to elaborate more soon, but real quick:
1) They don't have resources to investigate complicated stories (or stories that industry/agency makes complicated on purpose)
2) They don't have the knowledge to make sense of science (or the desire to learn how to)
3) They want to maintain access to gov't sources and the clicks as the result of having direct line to elected officials (or, in the case of Colorado, elected officials sharing those articles with constituents)
4) They are circling the wagons for their favorite political party, which in Colorado happens to be Team Blue (elsewhere media does this for Team Red)

Thank you Josh for all you are doing to get the word out. The trees …. The madness …
Thanks! At Eco-Integrity Alliance, we're a group effort of a few dozen advocates and member organizations. I--Josh--am just the facilitator.
Thank you to the Alliance!
